Glen Eugene Payne of Cleveland, OK passed from this life on Monday, October 10, 2016 at the Cleveland Manor Nursing Home at the age of 61 years. He was born December 25, 1954 in Tulsa to Bill and Violet (Pense) Payne. Glen was raised and received his education in Owasso, graduating with the Class of 1973 from Owasso high school. Following high school, Glen enlisted in the US Marine Corp. After honorably serving his country, he returned to Oklahoma and attended Oklahoma State University in Stillwater. Glen later made his home in Milfay, OK and worked as an instrument technician in the chemical industry. On March 23, 2001, Glen and Susan E. Simeroth were united in marriage in Eureka Springs, Arkansas and made their home in Cleveland, OK. At an early age, Glen was baptized in the Christian faith at the Mennonite Brethren Church and later had joined the Milfay First Baptist Church. Glen was an outdoorsman, enjoying fishing and hiking. He also liked to spend time in his shop with his tools. But his greatest enjoyment came from spending time with his family and especially his grandchildren and little dog Buddy.
Those that survive and hold many cherished memories are his wife – Susan; children – Thomas Payne and wife Teresa of Tahlequah, OK, Angela Rhea and husband Lee also of Tahlequah; Joseph Slitzker of Sapulpa, OK, Karen Cisneros and husband David of Moore, OK and Kelli Slitzker of Tulsa. Also surviving are five grandchildren – Tyler and Blakeley Payne, Myleigh and Katie Beth Slitzker and Violet Rhea; two sisters Susan McKinney and husband Jim of Bixby, OK; Jerri Scott and husband James of Bartlett, TN and a brother Danny Payne; as well as other relatives and friends. Glen was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, October 13, 2016 in the Chapel of Mowery Funeral Service in Owasso, OK. Visitation will be from 4-8pm Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Graceland Memorial Park Cemetery, Owasso under the direction of Mowery Funeral Service. www.moweryfs.com
