Thelma Josephine (Allen) Miller, resident of the Baptist Village in Owasso, passed from this life on Monday, November 14, 2016 at 89 years of age. Thelma was born April 21, 1927 at Gravett, Arkansas to Luther Hampton and Martha Jane (Brooks) Allen. She was raised and received her education in Arkansas. On June 26, 1945, Thelma and Finis Gerald Miller were united in marriage in Gravett. They made their home in Gravett and Rogers, AR before coming to the Tulsa – Mannford, OK area in 1954. Finis preceded her in death on April 16, 1988. Thelma worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse at Hissom Memorial Center for many years and was loved by the patients there. Thelma later moved to Owasso and has made her home at the Baptist Village complex. She was affiliated with Central Baptist Church and during earlier years, enjoyed gardening and traveling with her husband in their camper.
Those that survive include her children – Martha Bunch of Haskell, OK, Iris Thornton and husband Charlie of Sand Springs, OK, Jerry Miller and wife Pat of Broken Arrow, OK and Jim Miller and wife Betty of Bella Vista, AR. Also surviving are eleven grandchildren, twenty-one great grandchildren, fourteen great-great grandchildren and three great-great-great grandchildren. Thelma was preceded in death by her parents, husband Finis, one brother and one sister.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, November 16, 2016 in the Alsup Chapel at the Owasso Baptist Village with Chaplain Steve Williams officiating. Visitation will be from 6-8pm Tuesday evening. Burial will be next to her husband at the Memorial Park Cemetery in Tulsa.
