Melissa Joy Landers was born July 2, 1989, in Decatur, Alabama, to Laura Marie Heckler. She died Saturday, July 21, 2018, in Owasso, Oklahoma, at the age of 29 years. Melissa enjoyed a variety of activities and was a very accomplished cheerleader, having been recognized as a National Champion. She continued to enjoy being a cheerleader into adulthood at her sons’ football, soccer, and basketball games. She enjoyed studying cosmetics and the different applications of hair and make-up. She was also talented in interior design and fashion. Melissa was married April 2, 2016, in Durant, Oklahoma, to Rick Landers. While in Durant, she worked for the drug recovery court for a short time which she found very fulfilling. Caring for her family and being a full time stay at home mom filled much of her time. She attended Life.Church online with her husband every Sunday.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday at Life.Church in Catoosa, Oklahoma, with Pastor Kurt Newton officiating. Private family disposition will be held at a later date. Arrangements and services were entrusted to Mowery Funeral Service of Owasso.
