Kay Buford Dallas Johns was born May 23, 1937, in Helena, Arkansas, to Guy Otis Dallas and Ethel Maxine Grimes. She died Thursday, January 31, 2019, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, at the age of 81 years. She was married June 20, 1958, in Bixby, Oklahoma, to Gerald Johns. Kay completed her secondary education in Tulsa and was a graduated of Tulsa Central High School. Kay spent most of her working life as a licensed practical nurse at St. Francis Hospital and Hillcrest Hospital.
She leaves behind many who hold many cherished memories including: Gerald, her husband of over 60 years; her four children and six grandchildren – Gerald (Jerry) Ray Johns, Jr., wife Kelly and son Dallas of Lexington, Kentucky; Melanie Jerman, husband David and sons Andrew and Alex Jerman, of Raleigh, North Carolina; Richard Johns and wife Karen, and children Jay (wife Brianna), Jeff (wife Lindsay) and Elisabeth, of Tulsa, Oklahoma; Melissa Laberg Nilson and husband Jon Olav, of Oslo, Norway; three great granddaughters – Evelyn, Acelynn, and Reagan Johns; two brothers – Guy Dallas, Jr. and wife Sue, of Bella Vista, Arkansas; and David B. Dallas, of Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 5, 2019, at the Mowery Funeral Service Chapel with Pastor Jeff Johns officiating. Committal service and interment will follow at Graceland Memorial Park Cemetery in Owasso. Arrangements and services were entrusted to Mowery Funeral Service of Owasso.
