Marie Phillips was born April 29, 1930 in Haskell, Oklahoma to Harry Benjamin Pofahl and Vashie Arbella (Allen) Pofahl. She passed from this life on Tuesday, February 18, 2020 in Owasso, Oklahoma, at the age of 89. Marie was raised and attended school in Haskell. She was married on January 21, 1948 in Stonebluff, Oklahoma to Harry Franklin Phillips. Marie spent most of her working life in the home raising her children. She was a charter member and faithful servant at Friendship Baptist Church in Owasso. She taught Sunday school, cooked meals for families, and sang in the choir. Marie was an avid fisher and when her husband Harry retired, they made it their job to keep the lakes from being overpopulated. Only God knows how many fish she cleaned and how many filets and hush puppies she cooked. Marie never drove a car, but she could drive a bass tracker like no one else.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Vashie, son, Larry, husband, Harry, 3 brothers, Harold, Wayne, and Charles, and 4 sisters, Edith, Gladys, Norma, and Evelyn.
Visitation will be held 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 20, 2020 at Mowery Funeral Service in Owasso. Funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 21, 2020 Friendship Baptist Church in Owasso with Pastor Russel Kirkpatrick officiating. Graveside Service will be at 2:00 p.m. at Haskell City Cemetery in Haskell, Oklahoma. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be in Marie’s memory to Friendship Baptist Church Mission Fund, 14100 East 86th Street North, Owasso, Oklahoma 74055.
