12/08/2020 – Lynn Cagle filed to be a candidate for Owasso Public School’s Ward 1 of the school board on Monday, December 7th, 2020. Cagle is a licensed psychologist specializing in children, adolescents, and school psychology, and has a private practice in Owasso.
Cagle and her husband, Gary, have resided in the Owasso school district for 25 years. They have one daughter and one grandson who have graduated from Owasso Public Schools and three grandsons who are currently enrolled. Having previously been employed by the Oklahoma State Department of Education as well as area public schools, Cagle believes she can provide representation of the educational sector to the Owasso school board.
When asked why the Owasso voters should cast their ballots for her, Cagle said, “I bring a respect for diversity of beliefs and practices and the role they play in our growing community.” She continued, “I value innovation in education that is based on research and proven results. I aim to support needs identification and problem-solving using a collaborative approach including parents, caregivers, and students, as well as teachers, administrators, other school personnel, and community leaders.”
Cagle is an alumna of Oklahoma State University where she majored in sociology and school psychology. Education in these areas along with her professional and personal childhood education-related experiences serve as the basis for her perspective on education for children and its role in the community.
“I see public schools as a reflection of the larger community with the ability to serve as a resource in providing supportive services to those in our community beyond education of children,” Cagle stated. “Above all, I acknowledge the physical and emotional health and safety of Owasso students as being fundamental needs that must be met before learning can take place.”
