Rodney Gene Mayes was born on December 27, 1954 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to John Orville Mayes and Vivian Louise (Maher) McKenzie. He died on Thursday, January 7, 2021 in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 66 years. Rodney was raised and educated in Tulsa and graduated with the Central High School Class of 1972. He then enlisted and served his country honorably in the United States Navy. Rodney spent most of his working life as a training and development manager with the City of Tulsa for Almost 25 years. He was married on June 17, 1999 in Tulsa to Laura Ann (Longacre) Mayes. Rodney was a faithful member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Tulsa for 15 years but had most recently been attending Tulsa First Baptist Church. He was passionate about music and was the lead guitarist of the band “Risky Business” in Tulsa for 29 years. In his spare time, enjoyed a variety of past times such as fishing, camping, golfing, photography, horticulture, woodworking, and riding motorcycles.
