Edward “Ed” Allphin was born on October 7, 1929, in Catoosa, Oklahoma to Russell Allphin and Marie (Livingston) Allphin Porter, and was raised by Marie and Charlie Porter. He passed from this life on Thursday, March16, 2023, in Claremore Oklahoma. Ed was graduate with the Tulsa East Central High School Class of 1949. After high school, Ed enlisted and served his country honorably in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.
Ed loved spending time with family and friends whether it was trolling for sand bass with his grandkids and Sam Wisenhunt or road trips and long conversations with Darrel Ward. Ed also loved watching auto racing, he spent many nights watching the Crawford Family at the Tulsa Speedway.
Ed was no stranger to work, he juggled a very busy lifestyle working full-time as a firefighter, owning and operating a salvage, trailer park and being a mechanic.
Later in life he stepped away from the salvage and trailer park to begin building metal buildings and carports when he was not at the fire station.
Ed would always drop what he was doing to help those in need and those who were willing to help themselves. Ed loved traveling the United States and abroad. He loved visiting his brothers and their families in Washington state. Ed was always ready to try something new and make new friends along the way. He spent many days putting fish in the freezer to host fish fry’s for friends and family no matter the occasion.
Ed was a friend to all, a mentor to some, and a father too few. Those lucky enough to witness all of these qualities that he had to offer will have a reason to grieve. Grief is not a sign of weakness nor a lack of faith, it is the price of love, a price that many of us must pay. Those he leaves behind who hold many cherished memories include:
