Tommie Jacqueline "Jackie" TiptonTommie Jacqueline “Jackie” Tipton was born on October 1, 1929, in Hollis, Oklahoma to James Jackson Brown and Sybil Irene “Prissy” Brown. She passed from this life on Tuesday, August 1, 2023, at her home in Owasso, Oklahoma. Jackie was raised and educated in Ada, Oklahoma and graduated with the Horace Mann High School Class of 1947. She was married to Vernon D. Shipley until he passed away in 1974, then she was married to Troy Tipton until his passing in 2008. Jackie spent most of her working life as head cashier at Oklahoma State Bank in Ada. She was a longtime faithful member of First Baptist Church in Ada and St. Peters Episcopal Church in Amelia Island, Florida. In 2017, Jackie moved to Owasso, Oklahoma to be closer to her family. She was known for her quick wit and dry sense of humor. Jackie was a friend to everyone and always eager to learn. In fact, at 93 years old she knew her way around her iPad and her iPhone and even kept up with her own Facebook page. She enjoyed visits and phone calls from friends and family, except at 4:30 p.m. when Jeopardy was on.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Sybil, first husband, Vernon, late husband, Troy, and her sister, Joan.

A graveside service will be held at Memorial Park Cemetery in Ada at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to H.U.G.S. (Hats, underwear, gloves, and socks) a program through Church of the Holy Cross to provide warmth during Christmas season to children in need. 9309 N. 129th St. E. Ave, Owasso, OK 74055.
