02/02/2024 – Sodexo and the Owasso Child Nutrition Department are looking for elementary students to compete in this year’s Future Chefs Challenge.
The national initiative, now in its 12th year, was created to get students thinking about making healthy food choices while also encouraging them to be active and creative in the kitchen. Owasso students are joining over 2,500 other students representing more than 1,400 Sodexo-served school sites in 30 states nationally.
Interested students should submit their recipe online using the Student Recipe Submission Portal or by filling out a paper submission form provided by their school’s kitchen manager. This year’s challenge theme is “There is no place like home” your favorite recipe from home. The deadline to submit a recipe is February 17.
One student from each of Owasso’s nine elementary schools will be selected to compete in the district Future Chefs Challenge on March 29 at Morrow Elementary. Students will be paired with an Owasso Child Nutrition employee to create their submitted recipe and present it to a panel of judges.
The winning student will go home with a prize package and will be considered for a regional finalist award. Selected regional finalists will vie to become one of five national finalists competing for the public’s online vote.
