Barbara Therese (Wells) Courtney of Owasso, Oklahoma, formerly of Overland Park, Kansas, passed away on Tuesday, May 14, 2024. She was born in Kansas City, Kansas and was a graduate of Ward High School and Avila College. She and her husband (John Courtney, Sr.) moved from Overland Park, to retire in Owasso, Oklahoma in 1997. She was a Johnson County Master Gardener and an active member of the Owasso Garden Club, Herb Society and St. Henry’s Catholic Church Altar Society.

She is survived by five children; Charlotte (Kim) Hackett of Wichita, KS, Phyllis (Scott) Gilby of Lebanon, MO, Bridget Courtney of Lenexa, KS, John (Liz) Courtney, Jr of Raymore, MO, and Joe (Andrea) Courtney of Overland Park, KS; and a sister Cathy (Wells) Stone of Sergeant Bluff, IA. She has 9 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, and three brothers; Richard Wells, Leo Wells and Donald Wells.
Visitation will be at Mowery Funeral Home in Owasso, OK on Thursday, May 16, from 1pm – 3pm, Rosary at 2:00pm. Graveside services will be held at Resurrection Cemetery at 8300 Quivira Rd, Lenexa, KS at 1:00pm on Saturday, May 18, 2024.
