Joseph Dean Foster was born March 27, 1934, in Ponca City, Oklahoma, to William Foster and Anna Bell Purdue. He died Wednesday, August 14, 2024, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, at the age of 90. Dean completed his secondary education in Westville, Oklahoma, where he excelled in athletics and graduated with the Westville High School Class of 1952. His ability to play baseball allowed him to continue his education at Oklahoma Baptist University in Shawnee, Oklahoma. He completed his education with a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Tulsa.
Dean was married July 20, 1956, in Yale, Oklahoma, to Sylvia Huffine. He began working as a staffer with the Tulsa Chamber of Commerce. One of his early responsibilities was to organize the first Tulsa Careers Opportunity Seminar, which helped area college and vo-tech juniors and seniors for possible employment opportunities after graduation. After his time with the Tulsa Chamber, Dean worked as a vice president of Republic National Bank of Tulsa. It was after this time that Dean began his career in the homebuilding industry as a partner with Charlie Leake and he later became the owner and operator of Dean Foster Homes, Inc. which he managed for over 25 years.
Dean was a strong man of faith and had been a member of Eastwood Baptist Church in Tulsa and First Baptist Church in Owasso. He served many years as a Sunday School teacher and bible teacher. He enjoyed a variety of pastimes including sports, especially football and baseball.

He was great grandpa to 16 precious children and a great great grandpa of one.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Hugh Foster and Ray Foster, and his beloved son, Tony Foster.
Funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday, August 19, 2024, at First Baptist Church of Owasso with Pastor Chris Wall officiating. Final resting place will be at Graceland Memorial Park Cemetery in Owasso. The family requests memorial contributions be made in Dean’s memory to The Mission-FBCO, 13307 East 96th Street North, Owasso, Oklahoma, 74055, or www.themission.net.
