Edward was born in Queens, New York and his family moved to California when he turned 2. He lived his life to the fullest in Duarte, California. He could be working on his race cars and street racing, which caused him to face the judge many times with speeding tickets. He met his first wife Alice at a donut shop when he was 18 about the same time he got his draft notice. Just before being shipped to Vietnam, they were married. He was stationed on his first tour in Dong Tam with the 9th Infantry, being a helicopter crew chief and aircraft mechanic and on his 2nd & 3rd tours with the 128th AHC Tomahawks/Gunslingers at Phu Loi. After completion of his tours in Vietnam, being wounded twice and being honorably discharged he was sent home, unfortunately, his marriage did not last & was divorced.
He attended Powers Aviation School in Oakland, California where he received his A & P License and started working for Continental Airlines for a short time. He moved on from there to various other jobs relying on his secondary profession of aircraft machinist. On weekends, he would go boat racing with Rick Williams on the Trojan Ghost and for a short period of time co-owned a boat paint shop with Asa Bushnell (yes, the son of the maker of Bushnell field glasses & rifle scopes).
He remarried in 1987 to Anita Sifers and bought a home in Duarte. He did end up working at Mulgrew Aircraft for approximately 23 years and then retired in 2005. Both Ed & his wife moved to Oklahoma in 2005 finally fulfilling the dream of theirs to be close to his Vietnam buddy and his wife that lived in Collinsville. Sorry to say, both of them have since passed; but at least we had 12 great years with them.
In 2010, curiosity got the better of Ed and, after speaking with his wife, finally located his ex-wife Alice and had her flown out to Oklahoma to meet his wife and reminisce. One thing led to another and Alice and Anita got along so well that Alice ended up moving and retiring to Owasso the next year.
Ed had made many friends while living here in Oklahoma, but left so many behind back in California.
Ed leaves behind his wife of 37-1/2 years Anita, his ex-wife Alice, his sister Sophia Zubrinic of Wrightwood, California, Frank Zubrinic of Shasta, California and is predeceased by his parents Jerry & Helen Zubrinic; and also leaves behind many nieces and nephews.
