OKLAHOMA CITY, November 13, 2019 – After revolutionizing long-distance bus travel across 28 countries in Europe and the East and West Coasts of the United States, FlixBus is headed for Oklahoma. The tech-meets-travel company will connect Oklahoma City, Tulsa, Stillwater, Norman, Thackerville and Denton to Dallas and Houston. The lime green buses will hit highways November 14, and all tickets are currently on sale for $4.99.

“Our goal is to provide convenient and eco-friendly long-distance travel options and encourage people to park their cars,” said Pierre Gourdain, Managing Director of FlixBus USA. “Since launching in the US in 2018, FlixBus has created an entirely new demographic of bus travelers through a seamless app booking process, affordable prices and convenient stops, free Wi-Fi and more – 65% of first-time FlixBus users had never taken a long-distance bus. We want to bring this experience to people across Oklahoma.”

The Most-Convenient Option for Business Travel and City Exploring
The FlixBus Oklahoma network was built with businesspeople in mind. With multiple trips to and from Oklahoma City and Tulsa, travelers can arrive directly where they need to be. In Oklahoma City, the bus stops at the Santa Fe Intermodal Hub, just walking distance to the Chesapeake Energy Arena, the Cox Convention Center and the tourist area in Bricktown. Those who want to venture further into the city can step right onto the Oklahoma City Streetcar from the FlixBus stop.

In Tulsa, the FlixBus stop is walking distance to the business hub, the Tulsa Arts District and the BOK Center. Travelers between these cities can work via or relax with onboard Wi-Fi and arrive directly at their destination without having to worry about parking or transportation from the airport.

Easy Travel for Students from OSU and OU
From booking to boarding FlixBus has proven itself to be a student-friendly service. Oklahoma State and University of Oklahoma students can download the app on any iOS or Android device and walk to their on-campus stop and head to connecting campuses or home for the weekend. Though prices may vary, students who book early can often snag a ticket for less than the price of lunch.

A Global Brand with the Local Touch
The success of FlixBus across Europe and the United States is due in part to a unique business model that combines the best of two worlds: the forward-thinking efficiency of the FlixBus tech platform and the long-time operational experience of local bus companies. From 20 offices across the world, the FlixBus team handles the technology development, network planning, operations control, quality management, product expansion, marketing and sales; the daily scheduled service and green FlixBus fleet is managed by bus partners from regional SMEs, often in the charter industry.

In Oklahoma, the FlixBus fleet will be operated by regional companies A Ambassador Transportation and Wynne Transportation.

The Greenest Form of Long-Distance Travel
FlixBus is known for its green initiatives, like offering carbon offsetting for bus trips, introducing the first long-distance electrical buses in Europe and announcing plans for the first fuel cell-powered long-distance buses in 2019. FlixBus also piloted America’s first-ever electric buses on a long-distance line between San Francisco and Sacramento with American manufacturer MCI and plans to introduce these buses into its fleet by 2021.

What many people don’t know is that the conventional long-distance buses are the eco-friendliest mode of long-distance travel in the United States. But, for FlixBus, the status quo doesn’t suffice. Therefore, the global mobility provider has recently announced a Climate Neutrality Vision which aims for 100% CO2 neutrality. By 2030 at the latest, FlixBus plans to make all bus and train trips, as well as all business-related processes, carbon neutral.

An Innovative Take on an Old-Fashioned Industry
FlixBus continues to push the envelope in expanding what the bus-riding and booking experience entails. In 2018, FlixBus introduced the option to book tickets via Google Assistant voice control, the only long-distance bus provider to do so. Riders can also research routes, check bus information and get answers to their travel questions with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. Additionally, FlixBus implemented the first virtual reality program on a long-distance bus for passengers traveling between Los Angeles and Las Vegas. FlixBus continues to pilot programs and projects to make traveling more enjoyable.
