Anna Marie Smith, resident of Owasso, passed from this life on Wednesday, January 21, 2015, at the age of 77 years. Anna was born June 13, 1937, in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Thure E. and Charlotte (Lundberg) Holmberg. She was raised and received her education in St. Paul, MN, and on March 28, 1953, was united in marriage to Donald H. (Don) Smith in Wichita Falls, Texas. Because of his military career, they lived in a number of places before returning to Minnesota, making their home in both Stillwater and Arlington, MN. They have made their home in Owasso since August of 2014. Anna was a member of Faith Lutheran Church, and enjoyed crocheting and restoring antiques with her husband, always seeing the value in their work. Family was always a priority, and she enjoyed spending time with them, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Those that survive include her husband of 61 years – Donald of the home; a daughter Dawn Carpenter and husband Manly of Owasso; three sisters Mae Kane of St. Paul, MN, Janice Anderson of Lindstrom, MN and Ginger Beaver of North Branch, MN. Also surviving are two granddaughters – Amber Clark and husband Brett of Tulsa, Amanda Edwards and husband Pete of Broken Arrow, OK and two great grandchildren Berlynn Clark and Jaxson Edwards. Anna was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter Deniece Smith in Septtember of 2012, two brothers and one sister.
Memorial services for Anna will be held at Faith Lutheran Church on Monday, February 2, 2015, at 1:00 p.m., with Pastor Mark Neumann officiating. Inurnment of her cremains will be at the Ft. Gibson National Cemetery, Ft. Gibson, OK. Services have been entrusted to Mowery Funeral Service of Owasso. www.moweryfs.com
