Question:
I have a place on my back just below my right shoulder blade that goes numb. It doesn’t hurt at all and it’s an area that’s only about four inches. Do you know what this could be?
Answer:
Typically, any area of numbness would be an issue with a nerve. In this area of your upper back, a likely cause would be an irritation of the nerves that come out of your thoracic spine. Another possibility would be an irritation coming out of your shoulder. A good place to start would be to go see a chiropractor to check the alignment in your spine and have adjustments done as needed. If it doesn’t improve, visiting your primary care doctor for a more thorough exam would be in order.
