Question:
It’s bathing suit season and I have stretch marks that are hard to hide. Are there any products that help address that?
Answer:
Stretch marks are a very common problem in women who have been pregnant. Some studies have shown that up to 90% of women who are pregnant will go on to develop stretch marks. They can vary from faint, slightly discolored lines to deep pigmented fissures. Unfortunately there are no over-the-counter options that have definitely shown improvement in stretch marks. Prescription retinoids such as tretinoin have shown to improve scars and improve the overall look of skin. These can be prescribed by your physician, but are very expensive and usually aren’t covered by insurance. There are also laser treatments available.
