Bessie Lee Myers was born March 25, 1918, in Dill City, Oklahoma, to Charles Edgar and Ida Elizabeth (Bond) Henderson. She died Saturday, June 10, 2017, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, at the age of 99 years. Bessie was reared and completed her education in Gotebo, Oklahoma. She was married January 11, 1960, in Bentonville, Arkansas, to Clarence Edward “Ed” Myers. They had moved and made their home in Owasso, Oklahoma, in 1965. Bessie worked several jobs throughout her life including welding during World War II, meat wrapper with Safeway, but primarily as a carpenter helping her husband Ed. She also managed and operated the former U-Tote-M store at 86th Street North and Main in Owasso. She had been a longtime faithful member of First Church, formerly First Christian Church, in Owasso since 1972. She enjoyed a variety of pastimes, especially quilting and playing games with her friends at the Owasso Community Center.

Two daughters; Carmelita Turner, of Tulsa, and Teresa Torgerson, of Owasso
Eight grandchildren; Marci Moore Al-Kathiry and husband, Salah, John Turner and wife, Marilyn, Polly Stubblefield and husband, Tony, Ken Turner and wife, Stacey, Sheri Moore Lawton and husband, Lance, William Snovel, Jennifer Lopez Conte and husband, Christopher, Chelsea Torgerson Probes and husband, Anthony.
21 great grandchildren and 16 great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Ed, son, Leroy Moore, grandson, Michael Moore, three brothers, and four sisters.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, June 15, 2017, at Mowery Funeral Service in Owasso. Funeral service will be held 1:30 p.m. Friday, June 16, 2017, at First Church in Owasso with Reverend Ben Killion officiating. Committal service and interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The family requests memorial contributions be made to Porta Caeli House, (for end-of-life care), 2440 North Harvard Avenue, Tulsa, Oklahoma, 74115.
