Jean Douthit was born December 27, 1926, in Frederick, Oklahoma, to Clarence Elmer and Emma Jewel (Jones) Housley. She died Saturday, December 14, 2013, in Owasso, Oklahoma, at the age of 86 years. Jean was married September 26, 1947, in Detroit, Michigan, to Edwin J. “Buck” Douthit. They had made their home in Owasso, Oklahoma, since 1954. Jean worked over 17 years as a cashier andsales clerk with Soc’s Drug in Owasso. She then spent 26 years with Sky Chef in Tulsa as a purchaser before her retirement in 2003. Jean enjoyed a variety of pastimes, but family was most important and she loved cooking and having family gatherings.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Buck, and a sister, Irene Pettie.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday, December 16, 2013, at Mowery Funeral Service in Owasso. Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 17, 2013, at Freedom Church with Pastor Andrew Rankin. Serving as casket bearers will be William Douthit, Chris Satterwhite, James Potter, Barry Foster, Daniel Cathcart, and Travis Cathcart. Honorary casket bearers will be Duke Housley and Clint Douthit. Committal services and interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Owasso. The family requests memorial contributions be made to the Freedom Church Mission Fund, 9602 North 177th East Avenue, Owasso, Oklahoma, 74055.
