Billie Jean Brown was born September 3, 1942, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to Wesley Warren Mattoon and Jewel Marie Ballard Mattoon. She died Monday, May 29, 2023, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, at the age of 80 years. Billie completed her secondary education in Tulsa and was a graduate of Central High School. She was married November 22, 1962, in Tulsa to Joe E. Brown. She spent much of her professional career in banking as a teller. She also helped her husband Joe at his print shop in Owasso. Billie had attended Westport Mennonite Brethren Church in Collinsville, Oklahoma, but more recently attended First Baptist Church in Tulsa. She enjoyed a variety of pastimes, especially arts and crafts and going to craft festivals. She enjoyed spending time outdoors birdwatching. Billie was also a caretaker to everyone, whether family or friend. She dearly loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren, and was fond of her role as “Nana Brown” and “Gigi”.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Joe Brown, son, David Wesley Brown, sisters, Jenny Chandler and Barbara Fowler, and brother, Charlie Mattoon.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 6, 2023, at Mowery Funeral Service in Owasso. Funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 7, 2023, at the Memorial Park Cemetery Chapel in Tulsa, Oklahoma, with Pastor Randy Smothers officiating. Final resting place will be at Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements and services were entrusted to Mowery Funeral Service of Owasso.
