Carole Barnes FinnellCarole Barnes Finnell was born June 19, 1934, in Owasso, Oklahoma, to Paul Wallace
Barnes and Juanita Mae Crumpton Barnes. She died Sunday, September 24, 2023, in Owasso
at the age of 89 years. Carole traveled with her family all over Texas, Oklahoma and eastern
New Mexico growing up, eventually returning home to Owasso where she graduated with the
Owasso High School Class of 1952. Carole married her high school sweetheart, Jerry Finnell,
who was a wonderful husband and father to their three children. She was equally as fortunate
to have a second life partner, Bill Oden, who filled her life with joy and adventure. Carole
spent much of her professional career as an office secretary with Owasso Public Schools. She
later worked in real estate as a realtor, as office manager for her son Bracken Finnell, D.D.S.,
and at the Amoco Career Center as clerical assistant and manager with her daughter-in-law,
Kelly.
Carole was a strong woman of faith and was a member of the First United Methodist
Church of Owasso. She enjoyed a variety of creative pastimes, including crafting thoughtful
gifts for others, decorating, collecting antiques, and snow skiing. Carole and her husband Bill
traveled across the country together, reaching 49 states; they traveled to many of these in
their motorhome during summertime, sending postcards to loved ones along the way. Carole
was an avid reader and writer, always keeping a journal. She dearly loved her family and was
especially fond of her role as “Nana”. Those she leaves behind who hold many cherished

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry, parents, Paul and Juanita Barnes, brother,
Jim Barnes, daughter, Jami Finnell, and grandson, Hance Henrie.

Funeral service will be held 3:00 p.m. Thursday, October 5, 2023, at the First United
Methodist Church of Owasso with Pastor Jim Cinocca officiating. The family requests
memorial contributions be made in Carole’s memory to the John 3:16 Mission, Attn.;
Development Dept., P.O. Box 1477, Tulsa, Oklahoma, 74101-1477, or the Hance Henrie
Memorial Scholarship-Fund- note “In Memory of Carole Finnell” at- www.fumcowasso.org.
