Don McFerrin was born December 23, 1940, in Sebring, Florida, to Harry Cecil and Susie (Linn) McFerrin. He died Wednesday, May 21, 2014, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, at the age of 73 years. As a young boy, Don moved with his family to Coffeyville, Kansas, in 1947, at which time his father started the familybusiness of foundry owner of Pressure Cast Products. Don was reared and educated in Coffeyville and graduated with the Field Kindley High School Class of 1959. During high school he participated in competitive swimming. He continued his education at Pittsburgh State University in Pittsburgh, Kansas, where he earned his Bachelor’sDegree in business and was a member of Sigma Tau Gamma. He returnedhome to work at the foundry, which he purchased from his father in 1976 and became the owner. It was during this time Don was the swim coach of the Coffeyville Country Club swim team from 1973-1984. He had been active member of the Rotary Club in both Coffeyville and Owasso, Oklahoma and was a member of the American Foundryman’s Society. Don was married May 25, 2002, in Eureka Springs, Arkansas, to Dana Dannatt. After they moved to Owasso, he became a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Owasso where Don loved serving the Lord. He also enjoyed playing golf, listening to music, and spending time with friends. Most important to Don was his family whom he dearly loved.

He was preceded in death by his parents, H.C. “Mac” and Susie McFerrin.
A Celebration of Life service will be held 1:00 p.m. Thursday, May 29, 2014, at First Baptist Church in Owasso with Pastor Chris Wall officiating. Committal services and interment will be held at Floral Haven Memorial Gardens in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. The family requests memorial contributions be made to the Make A Wish Foundation, 5201 North Shartel Avenue, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, 73118.
