TAHLEQUAH, Okla. — Leading up to the 63rd Cherokee National Holiday in September, a new Miss Cherokee and Junior Miss Cherokee, as well as new Little Cherokee Ambassadors, will be crowned in the month of August. See all Cherokee Nation calendar items below.
Aug. 1
8 a.m. — Cherokee Nation Wings Program will sponsor the Redbird Smith 5K in Sallisaw. Proceeds benefit Ki Bois Community Action. For more information, contact Lacey Wallace at 918-772-7236 or lacey-wallace@cherokee.org.
Aug. 3
10 a.m. to 3 p.m. – Tribal registration help with citizenship applications in Jay at the Sam Hider Health Center, 1015 Washbourne St. Call 918-253-4271.

10th Annual Cherokee National Holiday Art Show applications, including photos of artwork, must be submitted by 5 p.m. Applications can be emailed to Marie Smith at marie-smith@cherokee.org or submitted in person at the Spider Gallery, 215 S. 10:30 a.m. – Cherokee Nation Principal Chief Bill John Baker; Deputy Chief S. Joe Crittenden; and Tribal Councilors Rex Jordan, David Walkingstick, Bryan Warner, Shawn Crittenden, Dick Lay, Buel Anglen, Keith Austin and Wanda Hatfield will be sworn into office during the tribe’s inauguration ceremony in Tahlequah at Sequoyah High School’s The Place Where They Play, 17091 S. Muskogee Ave.
