Cherokee Nation Technology Solutions hosts SBA workshops for Native American-owned companies
TULSA, Okla. – Cherokee Nation Technology Solutions (CNTS), a division of Cherokee Nation Businesses, is partnering with the U.S. Small Business Administration to host free, onsite training sessions and web-based seminars for native corporations interested in joining the 8(a) program. The workshops provide valuable insight for tribally owned businesses, Alaska Native Corporations (ANCs) and Native Hawaiian organizations (NHOs).
“We’re pleased to partner with the Small Business Administration because it will provide more resources to the American Indian business community,” said Cherokee Nation Principal Chief Bill John Baker. “At Cherokee Nation Businesses we are committed to creating jobs and building a strong economy. This will allow us to play a vital role as mentors and educators across Indian Country as we continue to nurture and grow tribally owned businesses.”
Working with the SBA’s Office of Native American Affairs, CNTS created curriculum focused on business development and the unique rules and considerations of the 8(a) program. The sessions address the many challenges faced by native businesses and offer operational and leadership strategies to build capacity, foster growth and expansion, and ensure sustainability. CNTS also provides technical assistance to participating organizations.

The company is offering 30 workshops throughout the U.S., beginning in Oklahoma City on Feb.4. Registration is available two months prior to each workshop.

The Office of Native American Affairs, as part of the U.S. Small Business Administration, was created to promote and support Native American entrepreneurs through tribal consultations, development and distribution of promotional materials, and attendance and participation in national economic development conferences.
