Counseling skills are needed in every day interactions. From connecting with coworkers to understanding your children better, counseling training can help relationships flourish. Both Christian Family Institute and Rejoice Christian Schools are excited to offer a counseling and caregiving course at a discounted rate in Owasso.
Christian Family Institute is hosting a course titled “Introduction to Christian Counseling and Caregiving: Level 1,” and the training course is open to the public. The five-week course costs $57 in total with its discounted rate and book costs, and all five classes are from 7-8:45 p.m. on Mondays, April 8, April 15, April 22, April 29 and May 6, at Rejoice Christian Schools’ South Campus, 12200 E. 86th St. N.
Contact RCS South Campus Registrar Julie Long at (918) 516-0050 or at jlong@rejoiceschool.com to register for the course, or you may register at www.christianfamilyinstitute.com/learn-to-help/. If you have any questions about the course, then contact RCS South Campus Principal Lisa Zingerman at (918) 516-0050 or lzingerman@rejoiceschool.com.
“I took this class in Tulsa more than 15 years ago, and it changed my life,” said Lisa Zingerman, RCS South Campus principal. “After completing this class, I decided to earn a master’s degree in Christian counseling, and I am so thankful for the skills that I learned through the CFI [Christian Family Institute] class. CFI maintains a wonderful partnership with Rejoice Christian Schools and provides training for our staff, parents and students. We are so excited to offer this course not only to our Rejoice family, but to those in our community as well. Although this training course is shortened to five weeks, we plan to offer an intermediate class in the fall about the same subject matter.”
The purpose of this class is to develop an understanding of the Biblical basis of Christian counseling and to understand the skills and processes involved in counseling. Further, participants will practice the safe use of these skills in small groups, receiving feedback from fellow participants and instructors.
Christian Family Institute’s clinical staff will host the course, and the clinical staff is Dale R. Doty, M.S.W., Ph.D.; William B. Berman, Ph.D.; G. Bowden McElroy, M.Ed.; Eric L. Clements, M.S.; Salley Sutmiller, M.S.; Lois Trost, M.S.W.; Timothy Doty, Psy.D.; Krista Caveny, M.A.; Amanda Harrington, Ph.D.; Jennifer Giles, M.S.; Chris Giles, M.S.; and Joe James, Psy.D.
