Cynthia Ann Martin, resident of Owasso, passed away Monday, August 11, 2014, at her home. She was 54 years of age. Cynthia was born in Tokyo, Japan, the daughter of James and Maria (Lang) Bigger. Because of her father’s military career, she grew up in a variety of locations including Carthage, North Carolina, where she graduated high school. Cynthia continued her education, obtaining an Associate’s degree in Nursing. She worked in Pinehurst, NC, for a number of years before later living in Colorado Springs, CO. On March 22, 2003, Cynthia and Mike Martin were united in marriage in Tennessee. They made their home in Fayetteville, NC, before moving to Maryland for eight years. Owasso has been home since 2012. Cynthia and Mike were attending the Anglican Church of St. Paul in Owasso. She was an accomplished painter of oil portraits and enjoyed reading.
Those that survive include her husband Mike; her father James Bigger of Carthage, NC; mother Maria Bigger of Owasso; children – Christopher Michael Freeman of Owasso, Gregory Daniel Freeman and wife Arriele of Ludowici, GA and their son Benjamin Michael; step sons – Kevin Joseph Martin and wife Kayla of Chanute, KS, William Scott Martin and wife Tamara of Yates Center, KS; three brothers – Charles Robert Bigger and wife Petra of Peyton, Colorado, James Richard Bigger and wife Susan of California City, CA and John Troy Bigger of Fayetteville, NC. Also surviving are numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m., Friday, August 15, 2014, in the Chapel of Mowery Funeral Service with Reverend Brad VanDeventer officiating. Cremation will take place following the services. Cynthia will be laid to rest at Ft. Gibson National Cemetery, Ft. Gibson, OK, at a later date. Services have been entrusted to Mowery Funeral Service of Owasso. www.moweryfs.com
