Dorothy Sue Holt, longtime resident of Owasso, went home to be with her Lord Saturday morning, April 2, 2016 at the age of 80 years. Dorothy was born June 22, 1935 at Sperry, OK to John and Agnes (Staton) Acuff. She was raised and received her education in Tulsa, graduating from Central High School. On August 19, 1955 Dorothy and Johnny Holt were united in marriage in Tulsa. To this union, four daughters were born. She and Johnny moved to Owasso in 1977. Dorothy was a member of Central Baptist Church in Owasso, and enjoyed taking care of her family and especially making milkshakes for the grandchildren.
Those that survive include her husband of sixty years – Johnny; Daughters – Karen Lowe, Jan Owen, Julie Adair and Mary Sherwood, all of Owasso; seven grandchildren, three great grandchildren and a sister Ruby Dye. She was preceded in death by her parents.
There will be a visitation on Monday evening, April 4, 2016 from 6pm – 8pm at Mowery Funeral Service. Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM Tuesday, April 5th in the sanctuary of the Central Baptist Church with Pastor Kevin Laufer officiating. A private family committal service will follow at Floral Haven Memorial Gardens in Broken Arrow, OK. Services have been entrusted to Mowery Funeral Service of Owasso. www.moweryfs.com
