Multiple sources now reporting that Dr. Perry Inhofe, an orthopedic surgeon at Central States Orthopedics in Tulsa and son of Senator Jim Inhofe was the lone fatality in Sunday’s plane crash in Owasso.
Tulsa International Airport said the pilot of the plane issued an alert at 3:45 p.m. The plane, a a Mitsubishi MI-2 twin turboprop crashed in a wooded area near 98th and Memorial.
The National Transportation Safety Board and Federal Aviation Administration have been on the crash scene since Sunday evening.
Witnesses to the crash reported hearing engine problems, then seeing the plane circle the area before crashing nose first and bursting into flames. Smoke from the accident could be seen for miles.
It is reported that the plane took off from Salina, Kansas en route to Tulsa International Airport.
