Evergreen Hospice is seeking patient companion volunteers (both male and female) for our hospice patients.
What does a Companion Volunteer do? Companion Volunteers help out in many ways. They visit our patients where they live whether it is a nursing home, assisted living center or at their own home. Some of the activities a Companion Volunteer does is to read to the patient, listen to their stories, watch television with them or help them with an activity such as bingo or provide relief for the caregiver by sitting with the patient while the caregiver runs errands. There are no clinical duties preformed by a Companion Volunteer.
Where are the patients located? The patients are located in several different areas such as Tulsa, Owasso, Sapulpa, Bixby, Glenpool, Catoosa, Coweta, Jenks, Claremore, Pryor, SandSprings, Muskogee and Broken Arrow.
How much time must I volunteer?? There is no limit on how much you can volunteer but there is a minimum of two hour visitation time required per week.
Is there training to be a hospice patient companion volunteer? Yes there is. I provide the training for you.
What are the requirements to be a hospice volunteer? All potential volunteers must be able to pass a background check with no felonies or drug charges. You must go through the fingerprinting process and have a Tuberculosis test. You must be at least 16 years of age, unless accompanied by an adult. You must be very dependable and have your own transportation with auto insurance.
Can I use this for required volunteer hours for my college? Yes you can.
