Congratulations go out to the five Owasso High School students that were awarded the 2016 Oklahoma State Superintendent Award for Arts Excellence.
Hunter Gross, Missy Rolseth, Madelyn Suitor, and Ashleigh Warren all received a medal for the Band category. John Keogh was awarded two medals, one for both Band and Orchestra.
Oklahoma State Superintendent, Joy Hofmeister, and Masonic Fraternity of Oklahoma Grand Master, D. Ridge Smith, presented the medals during a beautiful ceremony and reception hosted at the Scottish Rite Temple in Guthrie, Oklahoma last Tuesday, April 12.
Each year, the Oklahoma State Department of Education works in conjunction with the Oklahoma Alliance for Arts Education in seeking out the top juniors and seniors in the fields of band, orchestra, dance, vocal, drama, piano, and the visual arts. This year, 147 students from 39 different high schools were selected for this honor.
