Freddie Dean Long was born October 29, 1933, in Bristow, Oklahoma, to Omar James Long and Carrie Arlena Haggard Long. He died Saturday, June 3, 2023, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, at the age of 89 years. Fred completed his secondary education in Pryor, Oklahoma, and graduated with the Pryor High School Class of 1951. He continued his education attending Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, Oklahoma, earning his technician certificate in building construction. Fred was a veteran of the armed forces having served his country honorably with the United States Navy as a Seabee’s. Fred met his future wife Janet when Fred’s parents sold a ranch to Janet’s parents near Keetonville Hill. They were married June 19, 1959, at Lewis Avenue Assembly of God in Tulsa, Oklahoma. After their marriage, they moved to Gunnison, Colorado. While in Gunnison they built a mobile home park and coin operated laundry. They also managed a drive-in theater for Janet’s parents, while Fred continued in the home construction business.
The Long family moved back to Claremore, Oklahoma, in October of 1966. They built Park-It Mobile Home Park during that winter and spring, opening it in July of 1967. They purchased Oaks Mobile Home Park in February of 1977. Their business was always a family affair and their office was their home. This arrangement gave Janet the opportunity to help care for the parks and be at home with their family.
Fred was a strong man of faith and was involved in Full Gospel Businessmen’s Fellowship and Mid-America Prison Ministries. Fred and Janet were faithful members of the Owasso First Assembly for 20 years. After retirement in 2003, Fred and Janet enjoyed spending time traveling in their motor home. He was dearly loved by his family and will be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather.
