On Friday, June 06, 2014 at approximately 1:30PM the Owasso Police and Fire Departments responded to a reported head-on, roll-over motor vehicle collision at the intersection of 145th East Avenue and State Highway 20 (116th St North) in northeastern Owasso.
Upon arrival, emergency crews found victims trapped in a rolled over vehicle in need of emergency extrication. An Owasso Fire Rescue Squad extricated at least one victim and found several others involved in the crash injured, including 3 juvenile children.
Owasso Police initially closed State Highway 20 to eastbound traffic but it was re-opened, down to one lane of travel in each direction, once wrecker crews moved one of the vehicles. 145th East Avenue was closed for the duration of the event.
Ambulance’s from the Owasso Fire Department and Mercy Regional Medical Services treated and transported at least 6 individuals, including the children, emergency status to Owasso and Tulsa hospitals. The vehicles involved were a 2011 Chevy Colorado and a 2004 Chevy Blazer.
Witnesses state that one vehicle was traveling eastbound on State Highway 20, while the other vehicle was attempting to turn from westbound State Highway 20 onto 145th East Avenue. The cause of the collision is under investigation.
