Gregory John Howell was born November 17, 1951, in St. Louis, Missouri, to Charles A. and Norman Jean (Ziegler) Howell. He died Sunday, January 11, 2015, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, at the age of 63 years. Greg was reared and educated in St. Louis and graduated with the Kirkwood High School Class of 1970. He completed his educated at Lindenwood University in St. Charles, Missouri, where he earned his Master’s Degree in Psychology. Greg was a veteran of the armed forces having served his county honorably with the United States Army during Vietnam as a military police officer. He served as an officer with the Owasso Police Department from 1978 to 1981. He was married October 28, 1980 in Tulsa to Diana Hakel. Greg spent most of his working life with the State of Missouri as a vocational rehab counselor. He enjoyed a variety of pastimes including woodworking and building model ships. He also collected stamps as well as other items. He also enjoyed listening to music from the 60’s and 70’s, especially the Beatles, the Doors, and Eric Clapton.
Loving family members include: His wife; Diana Hakel Howell, of the home Daughter and son-in-law; Becky and Derek Niebruegge, of St. Charles, Missouri Grandson; Sebastian Billman, of St. Charles, Missouri Sister; Teresa Moehrle, of St. Louis, Missouri Mother-in-law; Agnes Hakel, of Owasso Brother-in-law; Rick Hakel and his wife Lora, of Tulsa Sister-in-law; Tina Albright, of El Reno, Oklahoma Sister-in-law; Sharon Swaney and her husband Brad, of Tulsa He was preceded in death by his parents, son, John Howell, his father-in-law, and a brother-in-law.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday, January 16, 2015, at the Mowery Funeral Service Chapel in Owasso with Father Richard Bradley officiating. The family requests memorial contributions be made to Clarehouse, 7617 South Mingo Road, Tulsa, Oklahoma, 74133.
