Owner’s Robert and Tammy Johnson are beyond excited about their new venture and held a groundbreaking ceremony Tuesday on the site of their new business.
Skating: When complete, the 26,000 square foot family entertainment center will host a 75’ x 150’ hardwood maple floor skating rink with both roller blades (in-lines) and roller skates (quads) available for rental, as well as special toddler and youth training skates. Never learned how to skate? They will also be offering skate lessons for all ages.
Special skating sessions will include Adult Night, Christian Music Night and owner favorite Tiny Tots every Thursday morning for those 6 and under. Tiny Tots will be a special time for toddlers to skate, bounce and play in the playground or on riding toys. Children will play along with interactive games like “ head, shoulders, knees & toes” the “Hokey pokey “ and more.
STEM FIELD TRIPS for schools are also planned for an educational experience and fun rolled into one.
Game Arcade: Not a skater? A game arcade full of redemption games with a redemption center full of prizes will also be part of the new facility.
Laser Tag: Multi-level themed laser tag with great special effects will sure to be a hit with the family, young and old.
Indoor Playground: A 20’ X 40’ X 20’ tall indoor playground (soft play) with over 16 different activities will be part of the facility.
Cafe: The FOOD FACTORY will not just be a simple concession stand, but a full café with ovens, fryers and grill. They will be serving fresh hand dipped corn dogs, pizza and other specialty items. Wheels and Thrills plans on having a daily food special including pizzas hot and fresh out of the oven daily.
Parties and Events: The best customized birthday parties for your child that will make your honoree feel like this day was just for them.
Group parties and corporate events for any occasion. Many more surprises yet to come!
Wheels and Thrills expects to employ approximately 60 people once open.
About the Owners:
Robert and Tammy Johnson worked together at Ricks Rollerena in Owasso in the 80’s. They married in 1988 and owning their own Owasso skating rink has always been their dream. What better 28th anniversary gift could they have given each other?
The Johnson’s are both Owasso High School graduates as well as their children, Robby and Brandon. Their third child, Justin, is currently a Junior at Owasso High School.
Tammy said “ We have always wanted something more for the kids to do in Owasso and this is our opportunity to give back to the community.”
They will strive to provide a fun and safe place to enjoy and make memories . Tammy, diagnosed with Breast Cancer in 2014 and a 2 year cancer survivor knows memories mean everything. “It was a battle that we fought as a family and are very blessed to be seeing our dreams come true.”
Robby and Brandon are Eagle Scouts and Justin is working on his Eagle project. All three started as Tiger Cubs from Pack 897 at Hodson Elementary School in Owasso and are now in troop 18
