Helen M. Melot 97 of Owasso, OK passed away peacefully Monday, October 26, 2015 surrounded by several of her nieces. She was born October 18, 1918 in Craig, CO. to Fred and Ella (Mowery) Bowman. She graduated high school in Colorado.
Helen married Milton Thomas Melot July 8, 1940 in Pauls’ Valley, OK. She and Milton had one Son, Jimmy and many nieces and nephews, Helen will be greatly missed. Milton proceeded her in death in 1989. She is survived by her Son Jimmy of Tulsa and 1 sister Norma Leach of Owasso, OK. Several nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews as well as great, great nieces and nephews.
She moved to The Baptist Village in Owasso about a year after Milton had passed away. Helen soon joined the 1st United Methodist Church and has been a member for the past 24 years. She enjoyed her prayer time and communion with the elders of the church when they came to visit.
Helen was a homemaker all of her life but she had many interests. She was a member of the Pioneer Ladies Group and she loved cooking and sharing her recipes with everyone in the family. She also enjoyed crafting with her son Jimmy. She also loved to embroidery and has many beautiful satin embroidered keepsakes.
Memorial Service is scheduled for 11:00 am Thursday, October 29, 2015 at Dighton – Moore Chapel in Owasso, OK. Officiating is Rev. Jim Cinocca, Jr. She will be laid to rest next to her husband Milton in Memory Gardens, Guthrie, OK.
