On the morning of Thursday, September 19, 2024, Owasso Police received a distress call from the family of a man residing in the Southern Links housing addition, near 8400 N 102nd E Ave in Owasso, Tulsa County, Cherokee Nation, Oklahoma. The call, made around 7:45 AM, reported that the man’s brother had been the victim of a home invasion and robbery earlier that morning.
According to police, the victim recounted that around 5 AM, an adult male, known to him, forcibly entered his home, physically assaulted him, and stole his cell phone and vehicle. The attack is believed to have stemmed from a domestic situation involving the victim’s ex-girlfriend.
Shortly before the police were contacted, another report came in around 7 AM regarding an unknown vehicle that had crashed into the front yard of a nearby residence near 85th St N and 101st E Ave. Footage from a nearby Ring camera revealed that the vehicle crashed into a tree at about 4:50 AM, and the driver walked away from the scene. Police determined that the suspect used this vehicle to reach the area before being abandoned.
Owasso Police entered the victim’s vehicle information into the FLOCK License Plate Reader system and received a camera hit at 6:30 AM near Harvard and Woodrow St in Tulsa. By 9:15 AM, Tulsa Police located the stolen vehicle and conducted a traffic stop. After a brief search, Owasso officers arrested the suspect.
No weapons were involved in the home invasion, but the crime was classified as a “strong-arm robbery.”
The suspect, identified as 35-year-old Brandon Cyle Neighbors of Owasso, faces multiple charges including:
- Robbery
- Aggravated Assault and Battery
- First-Degree Burglary/Breaking and Entering
- Larceny of a Motor Vehicle
- Failure to Remain at the Scene of a Traffic Collision
Neighbors, a member of the Cherokee Nation, allegedly committed the crimes within the tribe’s jurisdiction and will face Federal or Tribal prosecution. All Owasso Police officers are also sworn deputies of the Cherokee Nation Marshal’s Service.
