Howard Gene Blackwell was born April 11, 1949, in Locust Grove, Oklahoma, to Everett Ray Blackwell and Carol Jean Keener Blackwell. He died Wednesday, October 5, 2022, in Owasso, Oklahoma, at the age of 73 years. Howard was reared and educated in Locust Grove and was a graduate of Locust Grove High School. He was a veteran of the armed forces having served his country honorably with the United States Army. He spent most of his working life in the construction industry and working in drywall. He also trained horses and worked as a farrier. Howard enjoyed a variety of pastimes, especially if it meant being outside on the water fishing or on the golf course. He particularly enjoyed time spent playing pool. Howard loved his grandchildren was fond of his role as “Papa”.

Two sisters; Shirley Statum and husband Jeff, of Owasso, Oklahoma
Donna Bynum and husband John, of Verdigris, Oklahoma
13 grandchildren
Five great grandchildren, with one on the way.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a great granddaughter.
Funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 7, 2022, at the First Baptist Church in Locust Grove, Oklahoma, with Brian Bynum officiating. Arrangements and services were entrusted to Mowery Funeral Service of Owasso.
