James William “Jim” Hendrickson, 77, of Owasso, Oklahoma passed away at home on March 7th, 2016.
Jim was born in Oklahoma City on July 31, 1938 to John “Jack” Patrick and Margaret Mary (McDowell) Hendrickson. He graduated from St. Gregory’s High School in Shawnee, Oklahoma in 1957. He earned the Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering from Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas in 1962.
Jim married his loving wife Alice Ann (Bonifield) Hendrickson in Borger, Texas on August 22, 1959. They were married for 57 years.
In 1962, Jim and Ann moved to Tulsa where he began his career with McDonnell Douglas, working on the Apollo Space project. Later he lived and worked in Tehran, Iran for AeroSystems Engineering. He subsequently worked for over 20 years in management for American Airlines in Tulsa. In later years he founded Southwest Project Management and served as a project manager for both Brown Root and Johnson Controls. He retired in 2014.
All things mechanical were his passion and he would fix anything for anyone. He was actively involved in Toastmasters and was an accomplished bridge player. He enjoyed vacationing with his friends, was an avid reader, loved talking politics, and spent many hours fishing at the lake.
Jim is survived by his wife, Ann; son, Mark (Lisa) Hendrickson; son, Steve (Deana) Hendrickson; and daughter Theresa (Ron) Horton; grandchildren, Samantha, Olivia, and Isabella Hendrickson; Molly and Zachary Hendrickson; Conor, Jack, Alice, and Jimmy Horton; brothers, John “Pat”, and Jeff Hendrickson; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Jim was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Joe Hendrickson.
The funeral service is being held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, March 12th at Mowery Funeral Home in Owasso, Oklahoma.
