James Phillip Willey, resident of Owasso, passed from this life on Tuesday, February 24, 2015 in Tulsa. He was 62 years of age. James was born Sept. 15, 1952 in Bristow, OK to Elmer and Mary (Williams) Willey. He was raised and received his education in Tulsa, graduating from Webster High School. James then enlisted in the US Air Force, honorably serving his country until his discharge in 1978. On June 7, 1980, he and Shirley Freed were united in marriage. To this union, four children were born. At the time of his death, James was employed by American Airlines as a welder. He was a member of Saint Henry Catholic Church, Owasso and was and avid hunter and fisherman; but most importantly, he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially the grandchildren. Those that survive include his wife of 35 years – Shirley; children Angel Herzler and husband Ken of Broken Arrow, Melissa Beaver and husband Jeramiah of Avant, OK, Christina Willey of Owasso and Michael Willey and wife Jennifer of Ecru, Mississippi. Also surviving is his mother Mary Willey of Tulsa; and grandchildren – Jacob & Zachary Williamson, Christopher & Jasmine Beaver, Kelsey, Karissa & Katelynn Willey, Maggie, Evan, Lucas & Hannah Willey. James was preceded in death by his father, a brother Steven Willey and a sister Linda Reavis. Visitation for James will be from 5-8pm Thursday, February 26, 2015 at Mowery Funeral Service with a Mass of Christian Burial being held on Friday, February 27th at 10:00 A.M. in the sanctuary of Saint Henry Catholic Church with Father Matt LaChance as the officiant.
