Janis Eileen Riker was born September 1, 1927, in Hoyt, Oklahoma, to Logan and Ona Wilma (Hisaw) Wood. She died Tuesday, February 2, 2016, in Owasso, Oklahoma, at the age of 88 years. Janis was reared and educated in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and was a graduate of Will Rogers High School. She was married September 2, 1949, in Tulsa, to Raymond Riker. She and Ray had made their home in Owasso since 1968. She spent most of her working life as an administrative assistant at First Christian Church in Owasso, where she also served as a longtime faithful member. She enjoyed a variety of pastimes including going garage sale shopping. She also enjoyed sewing and was an excellent seamstress. Janis was quite fond of her role as a “Grandma Specialist” to her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Betty Wood and Ruby Sharp, and brother, Jim Wood.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, February 4, 2016, at Mowery Funeral Service in Owasso. Funeral service will be held 11:00 Friday, February 5, 2016, at the First Christian Church in Owasso with Pastor Ben Killion and Pastor Charlie Curran officiating. Serving as casket bearers will be Gary Riker, Les Riker, Dusty Jordan, Stephen Williams, Kevin Emmert, and Wade Riker. Committal service and interment will follow at Floral Haven Memorial Gardens in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. The family suggests that memorial donations be made in memory of Janis to Clarehouse of Tulsa, 7617 South Mingo Road, Tulsa, OK 74133. Arrangements and services were entrusted to Mowery Funeral Service in Owasso.
