Jimmy Benton was born June 12, 1966 in Tulsa Oklahoma to Paul R. Benton and Lynda S. Benton. He was one of three children born to this union. He had an entrepreneur spirit and successfully owned and operated several local businesses throughout the years including JR’s Bar in Tulsa and Stillwater as well as Fabtek Manufacturing in West Tulsa. After moving to Florida he owned Kokomo Beach Club where during that time he met Duane Baudino. Jimmy returned to Oklahoma, where he and Duane started their business ShowString together. The two enjoyed 12 years together before his death.
Jimmy attended Oklahoma State University in Stillwater and went on to graduate from University of Tulsa where he obtained a Bachelor of Science degree. Jimmy had many friends in Tulsa and the surrounding communities, and kept in touch with them throughout the years while maintaining strong ties to his roots. His father was an avid race car owner and passed that love on to Jimmy. Jimmy went on to own and race Sprint cars as well.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his father Paul Benton as well as his paternal and maternal grandparents. He is survived by his mother Lynda Hudson, partner Duane Baudino, brother Ray Benton and his wife Kristi of Tulsa, his sister Paula West and her husband Scott Sickler of Tulsa as well as 7 nephews and 4 nieces.
Services are scheduled for 10:00 PM Saturday, August 1, 2015 at Dighton-Moore Chapel, Owasso, OK. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery, Collinsville, OK. Casket Bearers will be Tim Kirk, Toby Roberts, Billy Don Gibson, Bob Evans Peter Rodriguez and Seath Sickler.
