Joe Turman was born March 23, 1927, in Wirt, Oklahoma, to Donald Odell and Gae (Marshall) Turman. He died Tuesday, August 2, 2016, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, at the age of 89 years. Joe was reared and educated in Wirt, Oklahoma and graduated with the Wirt High School Class of 1945. After High School he enlisted in the United States Army where he served his country honorably in World War II. He spent his spare time boxing in the Army while enlisted. After returning to the United States he attended classes at Northeastern State University, where Faye first caught his attention as they passed by one another on the sidewalk. He was married February 19, 1949, in Dennison, Texas, to Faye (Dearman) Turman. He spent most of his working life as a Lease Operator for Mobil Oil. In his spare time Joe enjoyed playing dominos, shooting pool, interacting with people and playing games, and above all he loved his family.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Donald Turman, sister, Guilda Thomas, and daughter, Terry Turman.
Graveside service will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday, August 5, 2016, at Fort Gibson National Cemetery in Fort Gibson, Oklahoma with Pastor Graydon Croyle officiating. Military honors will be provided by the United States Army. Arrangements and services were entrusted to Mowery Funeral Service of Owasso.
