Janis Kim Mattox was born January 27, 1957, in Siloam Springs, Arkansas, to Preston Smith and Mary Elouise (Thompson) Smith. She passed from this life on Wednesday, April 10, 2019, in Vinita, Oklahoma, at the age of 62 years. Kim was raised and educated in Oaks, Oklahoma and graduated with the Oaks High School class of 1975. After high school she attended classes at Northeastern Oklahoma College in Miami, Oklahoma and then Draughons Business School in Tulsa. Kim was married March 31, 1979, in Miami, Oklahoma to Robert Leo Mattox. She spent most of her working life as a homemaker and raising her children. Kim was a compassionate and caring woman and her family was her number one priority.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 16, 2019, at Mowery Funeral Service in Owasso. Funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 17, 2019, at the First Church in Owasso with Pastor Matt Thomason officiating. Committal service and interment will follow at Leach Cemetery in Leach, Oklahoma. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made in Kim’s memory to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105. Arrangements and services were entrusted to Mowery Funeral Service of Owasso.
