Larry Lee Leonard was born on December 10, 1948, in Fort Scott, Kansas to Wilburt Hubert Leonard and Hattie Leona (Francis) Leonard. He passed from this life on Wednesday, January 25, 2023, in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 74 years. Larry was raised and educated in Fort Scott and graduated with the Fort Scott High School Class of 1966. He was married on August 25, 1968, in Eve, Missouri to Connie Jane (Pfeiffer) Leonard. Larry was drafted and served his country honorably in the United States Army where he earned the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Metal with one Bronze Star, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, and the Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry. After returning home, he attended classes at Pittsburg State University in Pittsburg, Kansas. Larry spent most of his working life as a retail manager with Homeland Grocery Store in Oklahoma for almost 50 years. One of Larry’s favorite past times was playing golf. Especially, with his sons, grandkids, and golf buddies at the Owasso Golf and Athletic Club. In his spare time, Larry also enjoyed hunting, fishing, yardwork, family game nights, and especially spending time with his grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held 1:00 p.m. on Monday, January 30, 2023, at the Mowery Funeral Service Chapel in Owasso. Graveside service will be held 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, January 31, 2023, at Ft. Scott National Cemetery in Ft. Scott, Kansas. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Larry’s memory to the Folds of Honor Foundation, Department #13, Tulsa, OK 74182. Arrangements and services were entrusted to Mowery Funeral Service.
