Lois Rose Smith was born January 13, 1932, in Quincy, Illinois, to Baiga Rae Baker and Nellie Margaret (Turner) Baker. She died on Thursday, January 21, 2021, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, at the age of 89 years. Lois was raised and educated in Quincy and graduated with the Quincy Senior High School Class of 1949. She then went on to study accounting at Quincy College. Lois spent most of her working life as a gas accountant with Sinclair for 27 years. She was married in Pryor, Oklahoma on November 16, 1963 to Davis J. Smith. Lois was a proud and active member of the Oklahoma Palomino Exhibitors Association and served as the first female President. She was also a founder of “Go for the Gold,” a stallion auction and futurity. She enjoyed a variety of pastimes such as reading, cooking, and caring for her animals and especially her Dachshund, Webster.

Visitation will be held 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 28, 2021 at Mowery Funeral Service in Owasso. Graveside service will be held 12:30 p.m. on Friday, January 29, 2021 at Floral Haven Memorial Gardens in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. In lie of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made in Lois’s memory to Go for the Gold, 11780 South 4200 Road, Claremore, Oklahoma 74017. Arrangements and services were entrusted to Mowery Funeral Service.
