Louise (Murphy) Ferrell, resident of Owasso, OK passed from this life on Saturday, February 11, 2017 at the age of 86 years. Louise was born September 15, 1930 to Madie Mirene (Wilcox) and Muldrow Jackson Murphy in the Harmony community, Winnsboro, Texas. Her mother passed away when Louise was two weeks old, leaving her to be raised by her grandparents, Alva (Coats) Wilcox and Ulyssess Wilcox. Ulyssess passed away when she was 2. Her grandmother raised Louise by herself along with 4 sons, Cecil Taylor, Arnold Guy, Ulyssess Jr, and Clinton Wilcox that were like brothers to Louise. Louise attended Harmony Methodist Church and gave her life to Christ when she was about 12 years old at a revival. She graduated from Pickton High School in May of 1948. After graduation, Louise went to Houston, TX and lived with her Aunt and Uncle. It was there that she began her 21 year career in the accounting department with Southwestern Bell Telephone Company until retirement in 1988. On December 22, 1956, Louise and the love of her life, A. Albert (Bill) Ferrell were united in marriage. They were inseparable for 58 years. To this union, two daughters were born – Belinda Kay and Deborah Ann. Louise and Bill were always active members in the Methodist Church wherever they lived. Louise, Bill and Debbie lived in Houston until moving to Owasso, OK in 1995, to be near Belinda, Mike and Louise’s 2 grandsons, Ryan and Matthew. At that time, Bill and Louise became members of the First United Methodist Church of Owasso where Louise so enjoyed working at the Sunshine Desk, helping with various dinners and baking cakes when they were needed. She also enjoyed the once a month Trailblazers meetings, including setting up and cleaning up for the meetings. She was also an active member of the United Methodist Women and loved her church very much. Louise was also an accomplished seamstress, and when her daughters were young, she made dresses for them. She also enjoyed quilting and cross-stitching, crocheting and tending to her garden of vegetables, roses and beds of colored flowers.
Those that survive and hold many cherished memories are her daughters – Belinda (Ferrell) Nelson and partner Otto Kubecka of Collinsville, OK and Debbie Ferrell of Owasso, OK. Also surviving are Louise’s two grandsons – Major Ryan Nelson and wife Cynthia of Southern Pines, NC and Specialist Matt Nelson of Colorado Springs, CO and a great grandson Ty Nelson also of Southern Pines, NC.
Louise was preceded in death by her four uncles and three of their wives, her parents and her husband, Bill.
