03/01/2018 – A man running an Owasso non-profit for veterans is now in jail on a drug complaint.

Owasso police arrested Gary Gomes on a felony warrant Tuesday, that was issued nearly a year ago, while investigating complaints of a man collecting money in front of the Owasso Sams Club Store. His arrest is not connected to “Heavenly Angels,” the non-profit he runs , though Owasso police said they are investigating where the money being collected is going. Officers ended up arresting Gary Gomes for an outstanding drug warrant.

The warrant stems from Skiatook police finding more than five pounds of what is believed to be marijuana over a year ago. A warrant for Gomes arrest was issued in connection to it. While officers were investigation the call about him collecting money at Sam’s, they discovered the warrant.

Osage County issued a warrant for his arrest in July of 2017. The warrant charges are listed as:

  • 1. POSSESSION OF CONTROLLED DANGEROUS SUBSTANCE WITH INTENT TO DISTRIBUTE
  • 2. POSSESSION OF FIREARM DURING COMMISSION OF A FELONY
  • 3. POSSESSION OF CDS WITHOUT TAX STAMP AFFIXED, in violation of 68 OS 450.1
  • 4. UNLAWFUL POSSESSION OF DRUG PARAPHERNALIA, in violation of 63 OS 2-405
