The Owasso Police Department is reporting that at approximately 3:00 PM on Saturday, September 27 Owasso Officers and Medics were dispatched to the area of 12200 E 86 ST N
behind Rejoice Christian School.
Witnesses reported hearing a loud “boom” and looked up to see a man falling from an electrical tower, which supported high voltage lines. The Victim was reportedly 50 – 75′ high when he came into contact with the electric line, which carried an estimated 138,000 volts. Witnesses and medics attempted to render medical aid to the man, but he was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Owasso Detectives are currently processing the scene in an attempt to identify the victim as well as determine why he was on the elevated electrical structure. There was no active work order for the lines and the victim does not appear to be an employee of the utility provider. Early indications do not point to metal or utility theft as an explanation for this incident.
The Victim is a white male in his late 20’s or early 30’s. The Medical Examiner will assist in efforts to determine his identity.
