funderal flowers Margie J. Dorton was born February 11, 1919, in Wann, Oklahoma, to Chauncie L. and Elizabeth (Smith) Bass. She died Friday, December 13, 2013, in Claremore, Oklahoma, at the age of 94 years. Margie was a graduate of Wild Horse High School in Wild Horse, Oklahoma, near Hominy. She was married February 3, 1936, in Claremore, Oklahoma, to Theodore “Ted” Dorton. She spent most of her working life as an administrative assistant with Jones and Laughlin Steel Company in Tulsa. Margie had attended Sheridan Road Baptist Church in Tulsa, then after making her home in Collinsville, Oklahoma, was a faithful member of Collinsville First Baptist Church. She enjoyed a variety of pastimes including reading and crocheting. She was also very talented at making quilts and bedspreads.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Ted, brother, Chauncie “Sonnie” Bass, and three sisters, Teko Mary Gimlin, Ruby Pearl Bass, and Geraldine Lucille Maloney.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday, December 16, 2013, at Mowery Funeral Service in Owasso. Funeral services will be held 2:00 Tuesday, December 17, 2013, at the Mowery Funeral Service Chapel in Owasso with Pastor Jim Carty officiating. Committal services and interment will follow at Ridgelawn Cemetery in Collinsville. Arrangements and services were entrusted to Mowery Funeral Service in Owasso.
