Margie Ellen Prater, 92, of Owasso, Oklahoma passed away from this life on May 3rd, 2023.
Margie Ellen Prater was born February 19th, 1931, to Clifford and Opal Likins in Parsons, Kansas.
Margie grew up in the Parsons area, alongside her older sister and two younger brothers. She graduated from beauty school in Parsons on April 26th, 1949. A year later, in 1950, Margie married the love of her life, Rudell Prater, who she had met at a barn dance. Margie and Rudell had their first daughter, Ruth, on February 10th, 1952, and their second daughter, Connie, was born November 23rd, 1954.
Later in life, Margie and Rudell moved to Owasso. Margie and Rudell were long time members of Friendship Baptist church in Owasso. Margie enjoyed tending to their garden out in their back yard. She also enjoyed reading, doing crossword puzzles, working puzzles, sewing, knitting, and crocheting. Towards the end of her life, she also enjoyed having her youngest great grandchildren out in her room at her daughter Connie’s house.
Margie is survived by daughter, Ruth (Prater) Burgin of Conway, Arkansas; daughter Connie (Prater) Coleman of Owasso, Oklahoma; grandson Bradley Burgin of Fort Smith, Arkansas; granddaughter Brandee (Burgin) Green of Conway, Arkansas; grandson Brent Burgin of Conway, Arkansas; grandson Joseph of Owasso, Oklahoma; granddaughter Jennifer (Coleman) Matthiessen of Stillwater, Oklahoma; great granddaughter Maddie Burgin of Fort Smith, Arkansas; great grandson Noah Burgin of Fort Smith, Arkansas; great granddaughter Chloe Green of Conway, Arkansas; great grandson Samuel Matthiessen of Stillwater, Oklahoma; great grandson Malachi Matthiessen of Stillwater, Oklahoma; and great granddaughter Arrow Matthiessen of Stillwater, Oklahoma.
Margie is preceded in death by husband, Rudell; sister Ladonna Brother; brother Glen Likins; brother Ray Likins; along with other beloved family members.
The viewing will take place at Mowery Funeral Home on May the 8th at 10AM. Service will follow at 11AM.
